A compendium of news/articles/videos/pictures/events/stories that triggered the “Oh my god alarm!” Omygdaily – May 19 2016 will discuss:

  • Gang member ordering hit on a baby to get even. How evil and dead must you be to “order” such a thing?

Gang member ordering hit on a baby to get even. How evil and dead must you be to “order” such a thing? (Read More)

You must be a special kind of vile creature to order a hit on a baby, to retaliate and send a message to a member of an opposing gang. What has humanity come to? Even a baby is now considered a fair target. Sociopaths everywhere!

Furthermore, this person ordered the hit from inside a prison, using a contraband mobile phone. Firstly, how did this person get his hand on a mobile phone while incarcerated at a state prison? He obviously does not have any physical contact with the outside world, and, I am assuming that nobody from the outside world has any physical contact with this person. So, how did this person get the phone? Secondly, were prison officials involved in the mobile phone being smuggled to him? Finally, it seems to me, this person has managed to run his “empire” from within the prison complex; therefore, does it mean that the idea of sending criminals to prison for rehabilitation is an exercise in futility. I mean, how can they continue with their merry ways while incarcerated. They might as well be outside, no?

Pakistan’s brief forays into democracy and back into military rule. It is good to be a gangsta, I mean a dictata. (Read More)

This is not surprising, at all. Pakistan has been under military rule for almost half of its 70 year history. Pakistan military’s control over Pakistan has been outlined in a book titled, Military Inc: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy by Ayesha Siddiqa. According to the author, the Pakistan army establishment, using various proxies, control local businesses that are thought to be worth billions of dollars. These proxies own everything from gas stations to industrial establishments. According to Ayesha, the private wealth of Pakistan military could be in the tune of $20 billion, which are evenly split between land and private military assets. Furthermore, it seems, the Pakistan military controls “all heavy manufacturing in the country and up to seven percent of the country’s private assets.

Now, is it any wonder why the country has seen coups after coups, and it will probably see another coup very soon. When you can get rich quickly by taking over the country, then every general will want his share of the pie. Minting money is easy when you control everything. The only problem is the people. How do you control them? The easy answer is focus their energy and attention to a singular issue that most of them are passionate aboutKashmir and by extension India.

Technology

Superfast internet through your regular phone lines. Imagine that! (Read More)

So, a company called G.Fast can deliver speeds up to 750 Mbps over a regular telephone line. Next year, the technology employed by the company can offer speeds up to 1.5 Gbps. Imagine that! Next, imagine that speed over your telephone lines.

Here in India, BSNL, the public sector behemoth, cannot even consistently deliver speeds of just 1 Mbps. How pathetic is that? I have had BSNL connection for a few years now, and their service is worse than pathetic. Every couple of weeks, I have to lodge a complaint to them about a slow connection speed, no connection, dead phone or a faulty cable. Fix your frigging wires, BSNL!
